I like the new theme song. It gives us a lot of flexibility to make changes.
speaking of friends who are no longer in your network…
Who uses Second Life any more (and admits it)? I thought Second Life was dead?
Asking if user created videos are going to put the studios out of business is like asking if WANC is going to put radio talk shows out of business.
And what was with the dead air at the end of the podcast. That’s one issue you don’t usually have.
I see that Anne found something better to do. Probably wasn’t hard.
I figured out what caused the dead air issue and it’s in the process of being corrected. This was my first time editing a full episode with Mixcraft, so I’m still figuring stuff out on it.
We weren’t talking about just any user created videos, but the good stuff … which we’ve never claimed to be …
I’ll let Jason field the question about SL since he’s more involved than I am, and Anne can answer about her “something better” if she so chooses.
I thought you guys had a pretty good show.
The new theme really brought some new energy to the intro. Nice work Mike!
I know that I have missed the last two recordings but I am really looking forward to the next session.
Talk to you then!
Well anti-WANC I would have to disagree with you on the user generated vs studio debate. It won’t happen all at once, but with the studios continuing to push out crap people will start gravitating away from them.
An asteroids movie?Really!
Oh but it gets better than that, there are plans in place for a Monopoly movie and a Candy Land movie and the one that proves they are really scraping the barrel…
wait for it…
you aren’t gonna believe this…
a View-Master movie.
It is true there are still good movies out there because someone will actually take time to write a script, other than put Yin diesel in “XXX XXX: We Made 30 So We Could Put Three More X’s in the Title”, or “High School Musical The 25th Year Reunion:We’re Still Making This Crap Because Zac Effron needs the Money for Gastric Bypass and The Hair Club for Men”. I like popcorn movies too but in recent years it seems to me that a lot of the movies that have been popular are really worth seeing. Borat, Bruno, are two that really stand out in my mind as being crap movies that were wildly popular.
I don’t expect many people to agree with me but that’s just my opinion of the state of the movie business these days.
I must be getting old.
Thanks for the compliments on the music everyone. I think we were due for an upgrade from the 80′s Casio driven music.
Ahaha love the new opening.
~Loving my full sized doz ^-^ ( Sorry I play favoruites guys)
~ the my computer is alive thing was actually pretty damn cool, sorta ashamed I’d never heard of it before.
( can’t finish listening right now but i did wanna comment
Ok finished the episodes now. One of the best you guys have done in a while. Loved the steampunk song at the end .
Gonna keep an eye out for the next episode so I can comment when it actually comes out and not two weeks later.
Aww Thanks ladyumbra! I’m blushing. LOL
Ok, something is glitched and I’m not getting notifications of comments anymore, and its not like I actually visit our site or anything, so I’ve missed a lot of discussion here.
As for who uses SL anymore, an incredible number of people. Over 150 Universities have campuses in SL, as does IBM, Adobe, NASA, and many many others. I’m not going to claim that it is an awesome place. It is silly and clunky and definitely not for everyone. There is however around 60-70 thousand people logged in at any given time with over 1 million unique visitors per month. That is still a lot smaller than World of Warcraft, but bigger than most other MMORPGs out there.
There are active communities of writers, podcasters, and artists as well. I just find it an interesting way to meet people and kill some time once in awhile. The building aspects of it bring out the kid in me that loved playing with legos and lincoln logs. And I spend more time talking to people in SL than I do in RL most weeks. That may be sad in its way, but it allows me to interact with people based on common interests rather than physical proximity.
